Welcome to the Archives
Association of Ontario (AAO) Online!
The Archives Association of Ontario consists of over 600
members and represents archival institutions, all those
working in archives, as well as users and supporters of
archives. Established in 1993 as a result of the amalgamation
of the Ontario Association of Archivists and the Ontario
Council of Archives, the AAO is the voice of archives in
Ontario. [mandate/constitution/minutes]
Members institutions throughout Ontario provide
information to the Archives Association of Ontario (AAO) ARCHEION
archives database. An ARCHEION search will locate records
held in various institutions, providing a consolidated list
of results for the researcher. This archives service is
available to archivists and to the general public. There is
no charge for the use of the ARCHEION database. Try out
ARCHEION's search
capabilities now.
The AAO provides our members with guidelines and continued
training in retention and preservation of Ontario's
historical records and heritage. These services are available
to AAO members only. Check out our other membership
benefits. Membership is recommended for
archivists and other archives and history workers. Are you a
member?
Through ARCHEION, the Archives Association of Ontario also
sponsors special virtual exhibits such as Canadian
Identity and Genealogy
and the Family. These exhibits present Ontario
history and heritage in a manner that is easy to use and
understand.
